Netflix's most profitable fan

I know I should be ashamed of myself, but it took me 18 days to return my latest Netflix. I am on the 3-out plan, and so far this month, I have rented only three movies from Netflix. I returned two today. Contrast that to February, in which I got eight movies from Netflix.

  1. I have you beat. I am on the 2 out at a time plan, and I have held the Pirates of the Carribean bonus disk since late December, 2006. Still haven't watched it.

  2. I find that I go through phases. I am on the 3-out plan, and sometimes I go through 15 movies or more. Sometimes I even upgrade my plan and see more than that in a month. Other times, I hardly watch any, and my 3-out plan movies just sit around. I haven't watched a Netflix movie in maybe 2-3 weeks. I hate it when this happens. I always feel "better" when I am cycling a high volume of films.

  3. I had Transamerica out for three and a half months. I cycled through the other two of my three-out plan with my usual regularity, but it took that long to get into the mood to watch that movie. (And I really enjoyed it, once I finally got around to it.)

  5. The trick is to remember this isn't an all-or-none proposition. If you aren't watching a movie, after a week or two just return it. You can always ask for it back later.

Take it from someone who had a movie out for several months, this mindset works much, much better.

  6. True. But my queue is full of Movies I Must See Before I Die, so I can't skip any of them.
