Marketing Blockbuster's subscription plans validates and raises awareness of this business model, meaning Netflix spends less of its marketing time convincing customers that it's not a wacky way of renting movies.
I agree, Blockbuster is really validating the business model and now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that seeing Blockbuster's imitation caused me to look into Netflix and start my own subscription. Well, that, and finally moving into a less tentative home arrangement. :)
