IMDB history

This was brought to my attention via Listology: a fascinating look at the story behind the creation of IMDB (the Internet Movie Database), THE essential movie resource on the Web. I didn't know this, but it's been on the Web since 1993. I first visited it in 1995. It's now owned by Amazon, but it was started by a British movie fan-geek.

  1. While I didn't use it back in '93, I do remember linking to it, Yahoo, and some indie music website in '94. Yikes. Things were slow and painful in those days.

  3. I agree. IMDB is the bomb. My wife and I have used it for years to settle arguments. I once worked in Hollywood and was amazed at the tiny movies that were listed. Even a few that I worked on!
