Buy Walmart DVDs from Netflix?

Maybe this new "buy movies" feature at Netflix is just a way for them to sell off Walmart's online DVD rental inventory.

  1. Yes. My guess is that Walmart used them for their online rental DVD business, which they recently turned over to Netflix.

  2. Netflix doesn't buy their discs in DVD cases with original artwork. That wouldn't be practical, or necessary, if they are buying thousands of copies just for rental. But all of a sudden, they're selling them that way? I can't imagine any reason, other than that they got them from Walmart. This is because I figure that Walmart took inventory off of their shelves (in DVD cases, with artwork), when they started their online DVD rental business.
