Netflix: FAQ du jour: Expected Arrival Dates

"Q: Why are the expected arrival dates different for movies shipped on the same day?
A: We try to ship you movies from your closest shipping center. If a particular movie is not available at your closest shipping center, we will ship it to you from another location. This can increase delivery time, and therefore, it may have a different expected arrival date."

  1. How about when all titles still ship from the local hub? Myself, I live in Austin. There is a hub in Austin. But.. for some reason, not all the time, my shipments are staggered. Enough to be noticable.

  2. They're just picking on you. OR because of staffing problems, or volume of discs processed that day, some of the mail doesn't go out on time. That's my guess.

  5. If you have a defective disc, Netflix sends a replacement immediately after you notify them on their Web site, without waiting for it to be returned.

  6. You can search the Netflix site for titles, people, or genres. You cannot search according to availability status. If Netflix has the title in their database, they will indicate whether it is available, or you can add it to your queue to "save" it for when it becomes available.

    Go here to request a title. Netflix will not let you know the status of requested titles. You'll need to keep checking the "new releases" section to find out if it's been added. Netflix doesn't say how long it takes to get a requested title, but studios have a regular schedule for releasing titles on DVD.
