Netflix: FAQ du jour: Expected Arrival Dates

"Q: Why are the expected arrival dates different for movies shipped on the same day?
A: We try to ship you movies from your closest shipping center. If a particular movie is not available at your closest shipping center, we will ship it to you from another location. This can increase delivery time, and therefore, it may have a different expected arrival date."

How about when all titles still ship from the local hub? Myself, I live in Austin. There is a hub in Austin. But.. for some reason, not all the time, my shipments are staggered. Enough to be noticable.

They're just picking on you. OR because of staffing problems, or volume of discs processed that day, some of the mail doesn't go out on time. That's my guess.

Really? A blog dedicated to Netflix? Ok. My friend recently signed up for Wal-Mart's service which is a blatant Netflix rip-off. Sucks, sucks, sucks.

As we all know, Netflix recently had a price increase and just recently Blockbuster Video now has has there Monthly Pass.

    Netflix.
My feelings is that when you are done viewing a movie, you should be able to go to NETFLIX.com and click on a button stating that the movie has been returned. This will trigger Netflix to send out another movie. This way you don't lose 3-6 days waiting for your next film to arrive. Same would apply to damaged DVDs. Why should you be penalized for a movie being cracked. Once you go to NETFLIX.com and state that DVD arrived damaged they should sent a replacement immediately.

    Blockbuster Video.
Terrible selection compared to NETFLIX.com. Regarding their new Month Pass. Does this now mean people can get the NEW Release and keep it for days, even weeks. Blockbusters needs to bring in more movies to compete adequately with Netflix. Even if Blockbuster Video made it to where they mailed it out, but you could return it at any store.

If you have a defective disc, Netflix sends a replacement immediately after you notify them on their Web site, without waiting for it to be returned.

I have had a number of disc arrive damaged and everytime i click on the site that it is damaged they say to send it back a a replacement will be sent. They only send the replacesment after they get the damaged disc, not when i notify them online.

when i am searching for movies, how can i find those that either are not yet available or not released on video yet?
And I agree about being able to get your new videos, upon notifying netflix that you are returning yours.
Also, I would like to know, who and how long it takes if a member sends in title requests. Is there a place for all titles in the process of being purchased. i think when netflix orders a title they should have a section for that too, then you would get some advance notice of customer demand.

You can search the Netflix site for titles, people, or genres. You cannot search according to availability status. If Netflix has the title in their database, they will indicate whether it is available, or you can add it to your queue to "save" it for when it becomes available.

Go here to request a title. Netflix will not let you know the status of requested titles. You'll need to keep checking the "new releases" section to find out if it's been added. Netflix doesn't say how long it takes to get a requested title, but studios have a regular schedule for releasing titles on DVD.
